Police: Heroin found during

traffic stop for texting

After a Ronkonkoma man was pulled over in Massapequa Park for texting this week, Nassau police found that he had 15 bags of heroin, officials said.

Jerimiah Domingos, 32, of 14 Huxly Lane, was driving a 2005 Mercedes east on Linden Street around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday when, police said, they saw him texting on his cell phone, a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, police said, they found Domingos had the bags of heroin and a switchblade.

Domingos is charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance - a felony - criminal possession of a weapon - also a felony - and illegally using a portable electronic device.


Man shot another

in the neck, cops say

A Southold man has been arrested on charges of shooting another man in the neck with a rifle, police said Wednesday.

Southold Town police said they have charged Ryan Lademann, 26, of Southold, with second-degree assault in the shooting Saturday night.

Police said they received a 911 call on Saturday around 9:45 p.m. from a residence on Pine Neck Road.

When they arrived at the home, they found Lukasz Pasko had been shot in the neck with a rifle. Police could not immediately say how seriously Pasko was injured.


Woman faces DWI charge

after parkway crash

A West Islip woman was arrested on charges of driving drunk on the Southern State Parkway after crashing her car into a tree, State Police said Wednesday.

Police responded to a call regarding a one-car accident at 11:22 p.m. Monday near Exit 35 in North Lindenhurst, on the eastbound side of the parkway. When they arrived, they found a blue BMW off the shoulder and the car's driver in an ambulance.

After questioning the car's passenger, police said, they noticed that the driver, Donnamarie Scipione, 28, of 1240 Oak St., West Islip, smelled of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication as she was being treated for a cut on her forehead.

Scipione refused a blood test at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and was charged with a felony DWI, police said.
