Lynbrook man charged with violating Social Host Law, police say

A Lynbrook man was charged Thursday with violating Nassau's Social Host Law after underage drinkers were found with alcohol at his party, police said.

Police responded to a 911 call around 12:15 p.m. and found about 70 youths between the ages of 18 and 20 at the Lloyd Avenue home of Jake Sandler, 19.

Some partygoers were in possession of alcoholic beverages at the party that Sandler hosted, police said. Sandler was issued an appearance ticket at the scene.

Under the nearly eight-year-old law, adults over 18 are responsible for drinking at premises they own, rent "or otherwise control." It is meant to deter those under 21 from consuming alcohol at private homes, particularly house parties.
