A Lynbrook man was fatally shot after a dispute in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn that flared into gunfire, New York City police said Saturday.
James Donovan, 52, of New Street, died at Lutheran Medical Center more than eight hours after the argument Friday afternoon outside an auto repair shop on West Third Street.
A family member, reached by telephone, declined comment.
Police responding to a 911 call said they found Donovan at 2:17 p.m. outside the repair shop. He had a single gunshot wound to his left thigh, police said.
The Emergency Medical Service took Donovan to the hospital in serious condition. He was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m., police said.
No arrests had been made, and the investigation was ongoing.
No one answered a phone call to the auto repair shop.
