Nassau County police are investigating an early morning street robbery Sunday in Roosevelt, during which a man suffered facial fractures after he was punched and kicked by three assailants who took his wallet and cellphone, authorities said.

Police said the incident occurred at 2:20 a.m. when the man, identified only by police as 45 years old, was walking on Grenada Avenue and was attacked by the three who then fled. The victim was taken to a hospital and admitted for treatment of multiple facial fractures, police said.

There was an unknown amount of cash in the victim's wallet, police said.

No further details were immediately available.
