Man hurt while working on stoop in Uniondale

A man working on a stoop in Uniondale was injured when the porch collapsed Friday morning, police said.

The man, who was briefly trapped under debris from the collapse, has been taken to Nassau University Medical Center. His condition is unknown, but police said they did not believe his injuries were serious.

Nassau County police said the call was received at about 8:50 a.m. Friday. The site is at Manor Parkway and Gerald Street. Firefighters from the Uniondale Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, as was an ambulance crew.
