A Hempstead man was arrested after stabbing two men during an argument early Monday, Nassau County police said.
Marvin Mejia, 32, was arguing with the victims, ages 32 and 38, outside 71 Main St. in Hempstead shortly before 2 a.m. when he stabbed both of them in the abdomen with a knife, police said.
One of the men hit Mejia with a belt in an effort to protect himself during the assault, police said.
The victims were taken to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, police said.
Mejia also went to a hospital for treatment of a head laceration, police said. He was arrested at the hospital by Third Squad detectives, and he was charged with first- and second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
