A Massapequa man has been arrested and charged with unlawful sexual contact with two minors he met while volunteering as the stage manager for the BroadHollow Theatre Company, police said Friday.
Suffolk County police said Kevin Kelly, 31, of Carman Mill Road, was arrested Thursday on Plant Avenue in Hauppauge on charges of second-degree and third-degree criminal sexual act.
Kelly pleaded not guilty Friday in First District Court in Central Islip. Judge Jennifer Henry set bail at $30,000 cash or $60,000 bond, according to the Suffolk County district attorney's office.
Police said the charges involved a 14-year-old male victim in 2007 and a 15-year-old male victim in 2008.
Police did not explain how Kelly first came to interact with the minors. It also was not clear where Kelly was working when the incidents allegedly occurred. Police said the incidents did not occur on company property.
The BroadHollow Theatre stages a variety of productions, including children's shows, at locations across Long Island.
Robert O'Neill, owner of BroadHollow Theatre Company, said Kelly wasn't employed there and had worked on shows as a volunteer. He did not have further details on Kelly's history with the organization, which ended before O'Neill took over the company in 2012.
Kelly didn't appear to have an attorney. He couldn't be reached for comment.
Police ask anyone who may have been a victim or who has information to call the Special Victims Section at 631-852-6272.
Calls will remain confidential.
