Nassau: More cop patrols during Jewish High Holy Days

While there are no known imminent threats, Nassau and Suffolk County officials Wednesday announced plans to boost police patrols around synagogues during the coming Jewish High Holy Days.

Nassau’s announcement followed meetings with religious leaders, police said in a statement.

Officials are asking the public to call 911 “immediately” if they see any suspicious activity.

Police said suspicious social media activity can also be reported through Text-a-Tip via the Nassau County Crime Stoppers app, which is available free for smartphones and tablets.

Rosh Hashanah begins Wednesday at sundown and ends Friday, also at sundown.
