A robber armed with a large kitchen knife has held up six businesses since early February, taking the entire cash drawer in each case, Nassau police said Monday in asking for the public's help in nabbing him.

He started with a Shell gas station in North Woodmere on Feb. 9, but his other holdups are all mom-and-pop businesses in Valley Stream, police said.

"He was here one and a half hours watching the area," said Anna, a worker at Crescent Pharmacy in North Valley Stream, robbed just before 11:40 a.m. last Tuesday.

The employee, who did not want her full name used, said several customers later reported seeing the robber leaning outside against the wall of the next-door club and bar, located at the Central Court strip shopping center.

"Everybody thought he was waiting for somebody," she said.

Police said he has been wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and often a ski mask or scarf covering his lower face, gloves and white-soled black sneakers, police said in releasing two surveillance images of the robber. He has a thin build and appears to be 6 feet tall or just under, police said.

A white Hyundai-type vehicle with yellow New York license plates was seen about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 24 during the robbery of Evans Corner, a convenience store on Rockaway Avenue in Valley Stream, police said.

The pharmacy employee said she was behind the pharmacy wall when the cashier told her that a man with the sweatshirt hoodie up, a black scarf and eyeglasses had just demanded cash.

He held the knife "like he was going to do something" and uttered just one sentence the entire time -- "Give me cash," Anna recounted. "We gave it to him, just to save lives," she said.

Robbery detectives ask anyone with information to call them at 516-573-8040 on case No. 7-15 or Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS (8477).

Three of the stores he robbed were on or just off North Central Avenue, police said in releasing the list of businesses:

9:21 p.m. Feb. 9. Shell Gas Station, 928 Rosedale Rd., North Woodmere.

2:17 p.m. Feb. 24. Evans Corner, 962 Rockaway Ave., Valley Stream.
