Nassau police seek East Rockaway bank robber

Nassau police are looking for a man in a Burberry-type scarf who robbed an East Rockaway bank Tuesday afternoon.

Robbery Squad detectives said a man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and what resembled the British luxury clothing brand's signature black, red and beige plaid cashmere scarf walked into the Capital One Bank at 115 Main St. and verbally demanded money from a teller at 2:16 p.m.

Police said the suspect, who was about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a thin build, was given an unknown amount of cash and then fled on foot south on Baisley Avenue.

Six employees and no customers were in the bank during the robbery, police said, and no one was hurt.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
