Work on a new $440,000 comfort station at Manhasset Valley Park has begun as part of an effort to revitalize a former Nassau County-owned park.

Town officials said the new comfort station will have bathrooms and a storage area for the parks department.

The previous bathrooms had been in disrepair. The county transferred the park, along with several others, to the town over the past decade.

The project is funded, in part, through $100,000 from the Nassau County Community Revitalization Program and $275,000 from various other community funding sources, officials said.

Officials expect to finish the project by fall.
