Northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway night work starts again, DOT says

Starting Wednesday, all northbound lanes and entrance ramps of the Meadowbrook State Parkway between the Southern State Parkway and the Northern State Parkway are to be closed overnight through the end of June, the state Department of Transportation said.

The closures, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., are planned for Mondays through Fridays, weather permitting, to accommodate a repaving project resuming from the fall, the DOT said.

The work will include removing the top layer of "worn, distressed" asphalt, pavement repairs and the laying of new asphalt, the DOT said.

Drivers will face detours to northbound Merrick Avenue to westbound Old Country Road to northbound Glen Cove Road, then back to the parkway.

Alternatively, they can look to other routes, such as the Wantagh State Parkway.

CORRECTION: In a prior version of this story, the exits affected by nighttime closure of the northbound Meadowbrook were wrong due to incorrect information from the state Department of Transportation.
