High pressure building to the southwest means some breezy west winds and a small-craft advisory Monday for Long Island, the National Weather Service said.
The advisory runs to Monday afternoon and covers Moriches Inlet to Montauk Point; Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet; Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Fire Island Inlet; Long Island Sound; New York Harbor; Peconic and Gardiners bays; and South Shore bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay.
Wind are expected to be from 15 to 20 knots with gusts to 25 knots. Sea heights are likely to be between 3 and 6 feet.
The service's Upton office said the large high pressure system will dominate through Friday night.
