Oceanside fire department offers child safety car seat checks

The Oceanside Fire Department and Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) will hold a free child safety car seat check Tuesday for parents.

The car seat check will be conducted by the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board and will show parents how to properly install car seats in their vehicles.

The seminar will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Oceanside Fire Department station at 65 Foxhurst Road. Appointments will be available every 15 minutes and must be scheduled in advance. For more information and to schedule an appointment, residents can email Kaminsky’s office at Kaminsky@nysenate.gov.

“Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” Kaminsky said.
