A Hempstead woman who left her 7-year-old son unattended at the Lego Store at Roosevelt Field mall while she did her shopping faces an endangerment charge, Nassau County police said Wednesday.

Patricia Juarez, 44, of 67 Terrace Ave., was arrested at 5:30 p.m., after she had left her son for about an hour and 20 minutes Tuesday, police said.

"The store's manager, who became concerned for the well-being of the unsupervised child, contacted mall security, who called 911," according to police.

Juarez was arrested when she returned to the store at the Garden City mall. The boy was released to a family member, police said.

The mother was arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead on a child endangerment charge. She was held on a bail of $3,000 bond or $1,500 cash and an order of protection was issued against her.
