Polar Bear Plunge in Oyster Bay canceled due to weather conditions, organizers say
The 13th annual Polar Bear Plunge that was scheduled to take place Sunday at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay has been cancelled, according to event organizers.
The event, which benefits the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, was supposed to start at 1 p.m., with the plunge to take place at 2 p.m., but at around 11 a.m. organizers decided to pull the plug due to Sunday's weather conditions.
"It is too cold and windy, unfortunately," wrote a spokesperson for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County in an email to Newsday.
