A man and woman were arrested Tuesday evening in Lynbrook after undercover detectives observed an apparent drug deal in the parking lot of a White Castle, police said.
Nassau County police said the pair -- identified as Noor Mayan, 30, of 57 Halyard Rd., Valley Stream, and Alyssa Romer, 26, of 204 William Rd., Massapequa -- were each found to be in possession of heroin after their arrests outside the fast-food restaurant on Sunrise Highway just before 6 p.m.
Mayan was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, while Romer was charged with one count.
Police said that Romer was found to be in possession of 50 wax paper bags containing heroin they said was purchased from Mayan. A search of Mayan's vehicle, where police said the transaction took place, uncovered an additional 75 bags.
Police said the transaction was observed by undercover Narcotics / Vice Bureau detectives with assistance from an undercover Lynbrook Police Department sergeant. The area is known for drugs, police said.
Both Romer and Mayan were arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond for Mayan and $35,000 cash or $70,000 bond for Romer. They were represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases.
