Three people were transported to area hospitals and two others were treated at the scene after a two-car collision late Sunday in Hempstead, police said.
Hempstead police said the crash occurred on Greenwich Street between Clyde and Martin avenues at 11:50 p.m.
The force of the collision caused one of the vehicles to overturn and catch fire, Hempstead police Lt. Natisha Robinson said. She did not characterize the severity of the injuries.
Photos from the scene show one vehicle, crashed through a fence, having come to rest on the lawn of a home. The other vehicle is in the road, its front end smashed in.
The Hempstead Fire Department also responded to the scene, firefighters extinguishing the vehicle fire.
No one was charged in the accident.
