Police: Baldwin man arrested on stalking, child endangerment charges

A 71-year-old Baldwin man was arrested on charges of stalking and endangering the welfare of a child after police said he was seen in a parked car "watching children and touching himself" -- just blocks from a high school and an elementary school.

Philip Malfettone, of 3083 Grand Ave., was arrested after the incident Tuesday at 4:16 p.m. and faces arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said witnesses reported seeing Malfettone "parked on the block," identified as St. Lukes Place, located not far from Baldwin Senior High School and Plaza Elementary School, several times before his arrest.

Witnesses told police they had seen Malfettone watching children, as well as touching himself, while parked.

He was charged with four counts of fourth-degree stalking, as well as with child endangerment. Police are asking anyone who might have been victimized to call First Squad detectives at 516-573-6155.
