Police: Food delivery man robbed in New Cassel

Nassau County police are looking for two men who robbed and assaulted a food delivery man in New Cassel on Thursday.

Major Case Bureau detectives said the delivery man, 61, was taking Chinese food to a Railroad Avenue address at about 10:50 p.m. when he was stopped by a man with a baseball bat.

Another man came up from behind, grabbing the victim around the neck.

The two knocked the delivery man to the ground, punching and kicking him, police said.

They took an undisclosed amount of cash from his pocket and ran off toward Grand Street.

The victim had contusions to the face and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

One of the suspects is described as 17 to 18 years old, 5-foot-8, with short dread locks and wearing dark clothing and a baseball hat; there was no description of the second suspect.
