Police: Man robbed near Hicksville train station

Police are searching for two suspects, one armed with a box cutter, who attacked and robbed a 27-year-old man walking from the Hicksville train station late Tuesday night.

The victim suffered a contusion and minor bleeding, but refused medical attention at the scene, Nassau County police said.

Police said $120 was taken.

The robbery occurred near the intersection of Bay Avenue and Woodbury Road at 10:25 p.m. Police said the victim had exited the Long Island Rail Road station and was walking toward the intersection when he was struck in the face by one of the two attackers, both male, while the other displayed the box cutter -- and demanded cash. The two suspects then fled on foot onto nearby East Barclay Street, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
