Police seek leads in Roosevelt hit-run

Police are searching for a gray or silver BMW a witness said struck and critically wounded a man near Exit 21 on the Southern State Parkway early Sunday in Roosevelt.

New York State Police said troopers were called to the scene of the accident at 1:10 a.m. Sunday.

Police said they found Bayron Gonzalez-Cordova, 24, "semiconscious and badly hurt" at the westbound exit ramp to Nassau Road.

Gonzalez-Cordova, whose address was not immediately known, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in critical condition.

Police said they identified the victim through his passport - but said he carried no other identification and that they have been unable to contact family or friends.

Police said a witness told them that Gonzalez-Cordova had been struck by a gray or silver BMW and that the car sustained front-end damage.
