Police seek robber of Wantagh bank

Nassau police are looking for a man suspected of robbing a Wantagh bank late Thursday morning.

Police said a man, described as between 40 and 50 years old and 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a thin build, entered the Astoria Bank at 1149 Wantagh Ave. at 11:18 a.m. and gave a female teller a note demanding money.

The suspect was given an unknown amount of cash and then fled on foot, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as being bald with an unshaven face, clear glasses and wearing a red and white short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
