Police: Wantagh man menaced another, shot out windows with BB gun

A Wantagh man shot out the windows of cars and businesses with his BB gun on Thursday and pointed the gun at an owner of one of the damaged cars, Nassau County police said.

Rocko Fox, 18, of 796 Helene St., charged with second-degree menacing, three counts of third-degree criminal mischief and one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

At about 11:45 p.m. Thursday Fox shot a hole in a car parked at the Cherrywood Shopping Center in Wantagh, police said.

When the driver of the car, 17, got out, saw the damage and confronted Fox, who was sitting in his own car, Fox pointed his BB gun at him before fleeing, police said.

Officers responding to the scene then found Fox and arrested him; they later found that earlier that day he had shot and damaged glass windows at Cherrywood Wine & Liquor, 1152 Wantagh Ave.; The Realty Advisors, 1168 Wantagh Ave.; and the front and rear windshields of a car parked at the Willow Wood Shoppes, also on Wantagh Avenue.
