Police: Woman, 60, dies after being hit by car on Hicksville street

A female pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Hicksville on Friday evening, Nassau County police said.

Police said the 60-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was hit at North Broadway and Nevada Street at 5:35 p.m. by a Honda Civic traveling north on North Broadway. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The female driver, 59, was not injured and has not been charged. A brake and safety check was done on the Honda at the scene and the car was released back to the driver. Police are investigating the collision as "noncriminal."
