Port Wash. man accused of public lewdness

Nassau County police detectives on Monday arrested a suspect in two incidents of public lewdness that took place in the Village of Kensington several months ago.

Noor El Tahawy, 24, of 4 Revere Rd., Port Washington, was released on an appearance ticket after his 11:44 p.m. Monday arrest.

Third Squad detectives said they made the arrest after investigating an incident that took place Sept. 21 in Kensington, a small village in North Hempstead Town.

On that day, at 8:17 a.m., a 49-year-old female victim was in front of her Arleigh Road residence when Tahawy "pulled up to her operating a silver 2005 Toyota and asked for directions. Tahawy then pointed to his private parts and began performing a lewd act. He then drove away," police said in a Tuesday news release.

The victim reported the crime to Third Precinct police, and her information led detectives to Tahawy, police said. Tahawy admitted committing a second lewd act, on North Drive in Kensington, at about 1:50 p.m. Sept. 21, police said.

He is scheduled to appear Feb. 12 at First District Court, Hempstead.
