Highway improvement projects slated to last through May will disrupt weekday traffic on the Northern State Parkway and the Nassau Expressway, state transportation officials said.
For about the next seven weeks, all westbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway will be closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday and to 7 a.m. Fridays in Oyster Bay Town between the Long Island Expressway, Exit 37A, and the Wantagh State Parkway, Exit 33, officials said.
Crews from Tully Construction Co. will repave the roadway, authorities said. The eastbound lanes were repaved last fall, state officials said.
On the Nassau Expressway, or State Route 878, drainage work is underway in Hempstead Town, between Burnside Avenue and Rockaway Turnpike, the state transportation agency said. Some northbound or southbound lanes will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with one travel lane open in each direction at all times, state officials said.
When the drainage work is finished, crews will start repaving this section of roadway, a job expected to be finished this fall, officials said.
Work on the projects depends on the weather and may be postponed or prolonged, transportation officials said.
