Robberies reported in Uniondale, Freeport

Police are investigating a pair of robberies in Uniondale and Freeport that they say could be related.

The Uniondale robbery occurred at Front Street Liquors, located at 1085 Front St., just after 10 p.m. Saturday, police said. A male subject, armed with a black handgun, stole an undisclosed amount of money and a bottle of liquor before fleeing on foot, police said.

The robbery was similar to a holdup committed about 50 minutes later at Quick Stop on Main Street in North Freeport, police said. The subject in that robbery, who was male, left with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

No one was injured in either robbery, police said.

Police said they are unsure if the two robberies were committed by the same man. The subject in the Uniondale robbery appeared to be six feet tall, while the Freeport robber was about 5-foot-8, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call 1-800-244-TIPS. Calls will remain anonymous, police said.
