Safety inspection work on a pedestrian bridge means the northbound Bethpage State Parkway in Oyster Bay will be closed for two hours Friday, the state Department of Transportation said.
The parkway will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon between the Southern State Parkway and Route 24, Hempstead Turnpike, the agency said.
In addition, the eastbound and westbound Southern State Parkway ramps and the Linden Street ramp -- all to the northbound Bethpage State Parkway -- also will be closed to all traffic.
Also, a single travel lane for southbound Bethpage State Parkway traffic will be shifted to the east for about 45 minutes.
The closures are needed to perform structural safety inspection work on the pedestrian bridge over the Bethpage State Parkway and overhead sign structures, the state agency said in a news release.
The work is weather-dependent and could be canceled, postponed or prolonged because of inclement weather.
