Oceanside man charged with drunken driving with 6-year-old in car, police say

An Oceanside man was arrested and charged with driving drunk in Lido Beach with a 6-year-old in the car, Nassau police said.

Police said Fourth Precinct officers saw Shawn Buschor, 40, driving a 2010 Toyota sedan on Lido Boulevard/Loop Parkway while intoxicated at 4:34 p.m. on Monday. Buschor's girlfriend's 6-year-old daughter was in the backseat of the car at the time, police said, and was released to family members. No injuries were reported.

Buschor, of 2453 S. Long Beach Rd., was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, as well as another count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, two counts of drunken driving, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and unlicensed operator.

Buschor was arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead. Court records show he was held in lieu of $5,000 bond or $2,500 cash bail. His next court date is scheduled for Thursday.

Leandra's Law, named for 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, makes it a felony, even on first offense, to drive drunk with a passenger 15 years of age or younger in the vehicle.
