A student from Roosevelt Middle School made a threat against the school Wednesday, superintendent Robert-Wayne Harris said.

The child was walking home when he encountered a teacher who asked where he was headed. It was then that he made a threat against the school, Harris said Thursday. The teacher informed the district and the child was suspended for the remark. District officials alerted police, who are investigating the case. Further details were not available.

Harris did not immediately know how long the suspension would last.

The district itself is conducting its own investigation.

Harris said school officials followed all of the proper safety protocols and that students were not in danger. He said the student did not attack a teacher, as was originally reported.
