Suspects sought in Woodbury bank robbery

Police are searching for two armed men who they said robbed a Capital One branch in Woodbury on Tuesday.

The two men, armed with black semiautomatic handguns, stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank on Jericho Turnpike, Nassau County police said.

The robbery took place at about 4 p.m., police said.

Police said five employees and one customer were in the bank when it was robbed. There were no injuries.

Police said the robbers fled on foot, headed eastbound through a shopping center.

Police said both robbers are believed to be in their mid-to-late 30s or early 40s and said one was 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8 with a thin build and bushy brown hair, wearing a white baseball cap, large black sunglasses, a black zippered jacket and blue jeans. The other suspect is believed to be about 6-foot with a medium build and was wearing a Kangol hat, sunglasses, two-tone jacket with tan sleeves and jeans.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
