A report of a suspicious person lurking outside a Bethpage home Saturday led to the arrest of a Brooklyn man on a drug possession charge after Nassau County police said detectives recovered a package containing 15 pounds of marijuana.

Bryan Scott, 30, of 3403 Foster Ave., East Flatbush, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, police said Monday in a news release. He was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said Scott was arrested after surveillance by Narcotics/Vice Bureau detectives. Those detectives were on the scene on Carson Street in response to reports that Scott had been "observed numerous times during the day at the same address" -- and had been seen on prior occasions "removing delivered packages" left at the home.

Police said that Carson had attempted to "recover a package" delivered in his name to the house, which had been selected at random for delivery. Police said when he was unable to recover the delivery, the homeowner retrieved the package -- and turned it over to police.

Inside, police said, was approximately 15 pounds of marijuana. Scott was arrested at the scene, police said.

Court records indicate Scott was released on $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday.
