Train hits car in New Hyde Park; no injuries

A Ronkonkoma-bound train struck a car Sunday at a New Hyde Park grade crossing, causing minor damage and a 45-minute delay, MTA police said.

A woman driving a black Hyundai was attempting a U-turn in the Long Island Rail Road crossing when the train appeared and clipped the car's mirror at about 6 p.m., police said.

The woman was not injured, police said. The train was held at the scene for 45 minutes for the police investigation. The accident remains under investigation.
