Two robbers stole a cell phone from a teenager in Elmont Tuesday but not before beating him up, Nassau police said.
The two suspects approached the boy, 16, about 7 p.m. and demanded his cell phone, police said. They punched and kicked him several times, causing neck and head injuries, police said.
The robbers then fled with the phone north on Gotham Avenue in a two-toned black and gold Chevrolet Malibu, police said.
The teenager was treated at a nearby hospital, police said.
Both suspects appeared to be in their late teens to early 20s and about 5 feet 9 inches tall, police said. One had a heavy build and wore white running pants and a white T-shirt, police said. The other suspect had a thin build and wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
Police did not release other details.
