Cops: Pedestrian hit by car, suffers severe head trauma

A 69-year-old pedestrian suffered severe head trauma after being hit by a Chevrolet in Uniondale on Friday morning, Nassau police said.

Police said a 19-year-old man was driving the 2012 Chevrolet north on Nostrand Avenue at 11:10 a.m. when he made a right turn on Jerusalem Avenue and hit the male pedestrian, who was crossing Jerusalem from south to north.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital by a Nassau County police ambulance, police said.

A brake and safety test was performed on the vehicle at the scene, and police said there is no apparent criminality. The investigation is continuing.
