The 85-year-old woman who died Sunday night after her car collided with another vehicle in Franklin Square was identified Monday as Vincenza Grizzaffi of Elmont, Nassau County police said.

Grizzaffi was driving south about 2:40 p.m. Sunday on Franklin Avenue and attempting to make a left turn onto Oaks Drive when her car collided with a 2011 Infiniti G37 traveling north on Franklin, police said.

She was taken to a hospital with "multiple trauma injuries" and died some time later, police said.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 25-year-old man, suffered a broken leg and also was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Police described the accident as "noncriminal," adding that both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
