Westbury teen killed in cycle-truck crash

A Westbury teenager died Tuesday when his motorcycle crashed into a box truck that was operated by an unlicensed driver in East Garden City, Nassau police said.

Stephen Fay, 19, was riding a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle south on East Gate Boulevard about 9:40 a.m., police said, when he struck the 2000 Ford E-450 box truck, operated by Kevin Kizzie, 45, of 168-40 127th Ave., Brooklyn.

The box truck was traveling east on North Avenue and made a left turn onto East Gate Boulevard in front of the motorcycle, police said. Fay, unable to avoid it, struck the rear portion of the truck and was thrown from the vehicle, police said.

Fay was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m., police said.

Kizzie, whose New York State license had been suspended, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
