Woman, 21, robbed at gunpoint in Hempstead, police say

A 21-year-old woman walking along Fulton Avenue was robbed by a gunman at 5 p.m. Sunday in Hempstead, Nassau County police said. The woman was uninjured.

The robber got away.

But a witness told police the getaway car was a black four-door sedan with tinted windows and a rear spoiler and Georgia license plates that began with the letter V.

Police are searching for the car and the gunman.

It was unclear how much money was stolen in the robbery. Police said the man, wearing a black mask and a dark hooded sweatshirt, approached the victim and pointed a black-and-silver handgun into her stomach, demanding money.

Police are asking anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
