Woman forged doctor's signatures on handicap parking applications, cops say

A New Hyde Park woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of forging doctor's signatures on nine different applications for handicap vehicle permits, Nassau police said.

Jennifer Lisojo, 22, was charged with nine counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument after detectives discovered the forged signatures.

Police said the investigation started when a staff member at the Nassau County Office for the Physically Challenged saw an expired handicap permit on a car at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City, and learned that the car belonged to Lisojo.

Investigators then found that Lisojo had submitted nine handicap permit applications to that office, and received nine permits, with forged doctors' signatures. A physician's signature is required to get a permit, police said.

Lisojo, of 646 7th Ave., is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
