Newsday’s examination of Suffolk Conservative Party chairman Edward Walsh’s influence over the county’s judiciary has won a Front Page Award.

The story, published March 13 and written by Sandra Peddie, will receive the Nellie Bly Award for Best Bylined Front Page Story.

Newsday photographer Alejandra Villa won in the best photography essay category for “Chefs of New York City.”

The Front Page Awards, presented by the Newswomen’s Club of New York, honor journalistic excellence by newswomen in newspapers, television, wire services, photography, online, magazines and radio.

The awards, announced Friday, will be presented Nov. 10 at the Down Town Association in Manhattan.
