Springsteen sax player Clemons dies

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Clarence Clemons, the saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band, has died in Florida at age 69, a band representative said Saturday.

It was revealed June 12 that Clemons had suffered a stroke. Springsteen had described the stroke as "serious."

Springsteen called the saxophonist a "beloved comrade" in posts Tuesday on his website, Twitter and Facebook.

Springsteen said in the posts that his longtime friend and E Street Band member was surrounded by his wife Victoria, other family and friends, and thanked fans for their prayers and good thoughts.
