DAVID J. DAMBRA

REPUBLICAN

BACKGROUND: Dambra, 29, of Deer Park, is making his first run for public office. An investment banker, he is a GOP district leader and has an associate's degree from Suffolk County Community College.

ISSUES: Dambra said he would seek to create a tax break for the town's small business and other companies that contribute to community functions at places like churches and schools. He also pledged to give constituents a Republican voice, which he believes they lack in a town government controlled by Democratic Supervisor Steve Bellone. Though he offers few specifics on which programs he would cut or on which votes he would differ from Democratic town board members, Dambra said he would do a better job safeguarding voters' tax dollars. He said the town should do a better job cleaning roadways and that funds earmarked to do so are used improperly because of too much "red tape."
