WILLIAM J. NAUGHTON

DEMOCRATIC

BACKGROUND: Naughton, 76, of Huntington, is unopposed. He also is running on the Republican, Independence, Conservative and Working Families lines. He has served as the town's highway superintendent for 22 years and before that owned a Huntington landscaping business.

ISSUES: During his tenure, Naughton said, he has developed the town highway department's 24-hour help line, built sand and salt mix storage buildings, and purchased backup generators for the department's three facilities in Elwood, Oakwood and East Northport. He also has upgraded the town's street signs, making the names larger, and re-striped the roads to allow for a larger shoulder.
