Obama family Chicago chef joining White House staff

CHICAGO - The man who whipped up dinner for the Obamafamily in Chicago is now behind a stove in the White House.

Sam Kass, the former personal chef to the Obamas who previouslyworked at a chic Chicago restaurant, has been hired to supplementthe first family's kitchen staff.

A spokeswoman for first lady Michelle Obama says Kass will workunder executive chef Cristeta Comerford, a holdover from the BushWhite House.

A Chicago native, the 28-year-old Kass trained in Europe andgraduated from the University of Chicago. He's an advocate ofhealthy, local and sustainable food.

Kass' private chef business, Inevitable Table, says it promotes"a health lifestyle that focuses on the quality and flavor of foodto encourage good eating habits."
