Suffolk's Public Works Department failed to install its first red-light camera, which was supposed to be in service this weekend. The introduction remains several weeks away, officials said. The first is to be installed at the intersection of the Long Island Expressway Exit 59 South Service Road and Ocean Avenue in Ronkonkoma.
Commissioner Gil Anderson said that for the first 30 days of use, the county will not impose $50 fines on violators but will mail out warning notices. - Rick Brand
