VINCENT A. PULEO

CONSERVATIVE

BACKGROUND: Puleo, 55, also is on the Republican and Independence lines. He has been town clerk for four years. Puleo received an associate degree from Suffolk County Community College. The Nesconset resident is a former bar and restaurant owner, and spent five years selling health insurance. Puleo is a commissioner at the Nesconset Fire District and active with the Rotary Club and Elks Club.

ISSUES: Puleo has streamlined processes and cut costs, including finding a cheaper alternative when the town was about to expand space for badly needed record storage. He also said he secured state grants for the preservation of historical records and updated the town's Web site to improve transparency and save paper, by adding agendas, minutes, audio and video of all town board meetings. He updated the way to obtain birth, marriage and death certificates, which can now be purchased online with a credit card.
