The lead comes as elections officials embarked on a 3 p.m. break. Officials have counted absentee ballots from 274 of 460 election districts and have 3,683 ballots left to count.

The breakdown of the remaining ballots is:

GOP: 1,476 (40%)
Democrats: 1,370  (37%)
Independence: 118
Conservatives: 90
Working Families: 7
Unaffiliated: 756 (21%)

Ryan reports that Altschuler still has challenged more ballots, 864, than has Bishop, 602.
