1st CD: Cox making a move, Demos naming a team

Christopher Cox, the son of Ed Cox, the state GOP chairman, is expected tomorrow to announce his intention to seek the 1st Congressional District seat now held by fourth-term Democrat Tim Bishop.

Meanwhile, George Demos, another GOP hopeful for that nomination, announced members of his political team: Rob Cole, former advisor to Gov. George Pataki and, in 2008, a Mitt Romney deputy campaign manager; Jake Menges, former City Hall aide to Mayor Rudy Giuliani and currently his senior political advisor (who made phone calls on Giuliani’s behalf a few months back opposing the senior Cox’s selection as chairman); and Arthur Finkelstein, former pollster and strategist for Pataki and ex-Sen. Alfonse D’Amato, who is also a Lazio-for-governor adviser.
