Today, Sen. Kenneth LaValle's challenger Jennifer Maertz denounces "sexist comments by gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino, against U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, as evidence he’s unfit for any public office."
Maertz made one last call to her opponent to disavow the head of his party’s ticket.

“Ken LaValle has said repeatedly throughout this campaign that he lets himself be defined by nobody else but himself,” Maertz said. “Then he should stand up and define himself and withdraw his endorsement of someone so unfit for office.
“His failure to denounce and disavow a racist, sexist, homophobic person such as Carl Paladino, likewise, will also serve to define the person Ken LaValle really is,” Maertz said. “Misogynistic comments from public figures only serve to turn the clock back on important progress for women over the past century.”
Maertz was the first Democratic candidate for state Senate in New York to publicly call on her opponent to disavow Paladino’s candidacy. Despite Paladino’s history of intemperate and disgusting communications, and despite incidents during this campaign such as a threat of violence against a journalist, LaValle has not only refused to distance himself from Paladino but has endorsed him and praised Paladino’s agenda......
